None of this is being charged yet. Vroam is in closed beta and heading to the App Store, so these are the prices it will launch at, published early because it is the first thing anyone asks.
Why a subscription
Running Vroam costs real money. Every Ask Vroam question is billed by the query, and so are the maps, the servers, the weather and the developer account, on top of the work of keeping the spot data current. A subscription is the honest way to pay for all of it.
The free tier is not a trial that runs out. If all you ever want is the map, search and the weather, that keeps working, with no account and no nagging.
