The forecast for the pin, not the nearest town
Weather is an important factor for camping and life on the road. Vroam keeps current conditions in the top bar of the map and a Weather row on a spot you open, and behind that row sits the depth: official alerts, next-hour precipitation, an hourly strip with wind and rain chance, a 10-day forecast, and tiles for sunrise, sunset, feels like, humidity, UV index, wind, gusts, pressure, visibility and dew point.
How it works

Glance at the chip
A temperature chip sits in the map top bar and follows the map, so panning over to a valley a couple of hours away shows you what it is doing there. Tap it for the same detail a spot gives you.

Open the Weather row on a spot
A spot sheet carries a Weather row with the current temperature and conditions for that exact point. Tap it for alerts, the hourly strip, the 10-day forecast with moon phase, and the metric tiles.

Connection required
Weather is live data, so it needs a connection. Official alerts and next-hour precipitation come from the primary weather service and are missing when Vroam falls back to its backup source, and next-hour precipitation is United States only.
What makes it different
The forecast is attached to the pin you are considering rather than to the nearest town with a weather station, and the depth behind it matches a dedicated weather app without making you leave the map.
What weather should you check before camping overnight?
The number that matters overnight is rarely the daytime high. Wind decides whether a high-sided van is comfortable or miserable and whether an awning survives the night. The overnight low decides what you sleep under and whether your water lines are at risk. Precipitation chance decides whether the dirt road you came in on is still drivable in the morning. An official government alert is the one item worth acting on immediately, and elevation moves temperature faster than distance does, so a spot an hour away but much higher up can be a lot cooler than the town you left.
Common questions
- How far out does the forecast go?
- Ten days, with hour by hour detail through the next day, plus next-hour precipitation when you are in the United States and the primary source is available.
- Where does the weather come from?
- Apple's weather service where it works, with Open-Meteo as a fallback. On the fallback, official alerts and next-hour precipitation are not available, so an empty alert section does not by itself mean the sky is clear.
- Does Vroam warn me about severe weather?
- It shows official government alerts on the weather sheet when they exist, with a link out to the issuing notice. Vroam sends no push notifications of any kind, by design, so the app has to be open for you to see one. Treat it as a place to check, not a place that will wake you up.
